The Epitome of Cabinetry

Schrapper's Fine Cabinetry and Design keeps abreast of what's going on in the industry by continually reading, researching and rallying around the industry's leaders; learning the latest cabinetry trends and resources for improved styling and functionality. Kitchen design is light-years ahead of what it was a few short years ago. Industry crystal ball gazers are wondering what will be the next amazing trend by end of this year.

Kitchen space planning, and design, has experienced significant changes over the past decade. As kitchens continue to grow as the focal point in the home, and draw more social interaction than almost any other room in the house, designers have upped their game and become modern pioneers in the race to create the most spectacular and efficient spaces. Many of the new trends have to do with cabinetry style. It's a little overwhelming when you learn of styles that are magnificent, each in their own way, yet at such opposite ends of the spectrum.

A Kitchen Conundrum
Interestingly, kitchen cabinetry design has moved in two different directions at the same time. Three of the room's major appliances have become virtually invisible through integrative cabinetry fronts:

  • Microwave
  • Dishwasher
  • Refrigerator

It may take several attempts to find the refrigerator door as you sneak into the kitchen for a midnight snack, and several more to warm it up in the microwave! Custom cabinetry fronts for appliances are created to look like doors and drawers.

While appliances become a part of the landscape, designers are opting for open cabinet spaces and full glass doors fronts - allowing the contents to be viewed more easily. Dishes and dry goods are now a part of the overall look of today's kitchens. Though the components of the kitchen become sleeker and ultra functional, the homey look of open cabinet spaces is reminiscent of days gone by.
